Data & Methods

SCAN 360 summarizes and displays information on dozens of disease risk factors and health outcomes using more than a dozen national, state and private sources of data including: the U.S. Census Bureau, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and Florida’s Department of Health.

Most estimates are reported for the State of Florida, its 67 counties and 921 census-defined places (CDP), and the 11 City of Miami districts (aka ‘neighborhoods’), however, due to limitations of particular data sources, some estimates can only be reported at the county level. The rest of this section details the factors that are reported in SCAN 360, organized by data source.
